BBC World News Interviews Critica Co-Founder Sara Gorman
From Brexit to Trump, how to handle facts in our "post-truth" world
On March 13, Critica co-founder and co-author of Denying to the Grave was interviewed on BBC World News. In light of recent political events in both Britain and the U.S., the interview focused on some of the problems people have with accepting evidence that conflicts with what they believe – or with what they want to believe. Some of the topics discussed included the ways in which natural psychological processes conflict with science and features of the brain that promote holding onto views tenuously, even when they are wrong. As Dr. Gorman noted in the interview, “With science, if you can’t change your mind, you’re behind.” Dr. Gorman was joined by Professor Kris de Meyer of King’s College London, a neuroscience expert who studies how people formulate beliefs and convictions.
We hope you enjoy the interview!
